Once thought to be the next Marylin Monroe, Emily stepped out of the limelight after revealing in 2009 that she had been diagnosed with schizophrenia (among other possible diagnoses). She told the Daily Mail UK, “Mental illness is a funny thing. If you have a broken leg you can fix it, but with the mind it's not so simple and there is a stigma attached to it. It can make you feel like a freak.” Perhaps on a different path now, we wish her the best.

This former Groundling has countless film and TV credits to her name (sure, I could count, but I’m not gonna) and has worked with comedians like Chevy Chase, Richard Pryor, Cheech & Chong, Rodney Dangerfield, Howie Mandel, Pee Wee Herman, Louie Anderson, David Spade, and Dana Carvey. As if that wasn’t enough, she’s also given us memorable roles like evil Principal Rooney’s secretary Grace in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the f**ing perky car rental agent in Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Mrs. Poole on Valerie, and Mallory’s mom in Natural Born Killers. Further proving she can make anything sound sweet and innocent, she has lent her voice to animated films like The Little Mermaid, A Bug’s Life, and Cars. On November 2, she adds Wreck-It Ralph to the list.

Thankfully, he grew into softer roles like Lucas’s beloved Uncle Keith on One Tree Hill and left the A-hole role to his on-screen brother Dan, who shot and killed him. (Talk about sibling rivalry.) He guest-stars regularly on series like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Mentalist, and Criminal Minds. Set your DVRs!

She was also given the title of O.B.E. (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2003 Queen's New Year's Honours List for her services to drama. Not bad for a woman whose career didn’t take off until she was 40!
