Before They Were Stars: Daughter of Andrea Gardner and Scott Kingsley Swift, country/pop singer Taylor Swift has music in her blood – she is the granddaughter of professional opera singer Marjorie Finlay. As a child, Swift always loved music and would write songs about what was happening around her. After singing the national anthem at the U.S. Tennis Open when she was only 12, she gained national attention, which led to Sony/ATV Tree hiring her as a songwriter at age 14.
Where Are They Now: Swift’s debut album, Taylor Swift, reached no. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums list and made it to no. 5 on the Billboard 200. Since then, Swift has released two more albums, Fearless and Speak Now and she is currently on tour.
Snakkle Snippet: Swift doesn’t limit her writing to songs; she also wrote a 350-page novel (unpublished) when she was only 11.
