Ulysses S. Grant High School is like the Samuel L. Jackson of filming locations. This school in the Valley Glen neighborhood in the east-central San Fernando Valley is featured in so many major television shows and films that it's hard to keep track of it all. Some of the school's major roles include Saved by the Bell’s iconic exterior shot and Six Feet Under’s interior classroom shots. The school was also used for both the TV and film versions of Clueless. Other productions that used the grounds include My Name Is Earl, Not Another Teen Movie, Ghost Whisperer, Reno 911!, The United States of Tara, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Malcolm in the Middle, Life Goes On, Ferris Bueller, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, The Office, and Reba.

John Marshall High School on Tracy Street in Los Feliz has seen more stars than the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The interior and exterior of the school has been used in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Boy Meets World, The Wonder Years, Who's the Boss, Grosse Pointe Blank, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Can't Hardly Wait, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Boston Public, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Cory in the House, Hannah Montana, Pretty in Pink, Zapped, Grease, Like Father Like Son, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Space Jam, and Sister, Sister. The most famous scenes filmed here: the football field in the ending sequence of Grease and the library in Van Halen's sexy "Hot for Teacher” video.

University Senior High School, commonly known as Uni, has been the high school of choice for a variety of coming-of-age television shows: My So-Called Life, 7th Heaven, Even Stevens, Joan of Arcadia, Parenthood, and Arrested Development.

Birmingham Community Charter High School in the district of Lake Balboa in the San Fernando Valley serves as the backdrop for numerous commercials, television shows, and music videos, such as Simple Plan's “Can't Keep My Hands Off You,” Missy Elliott's “Gossip Folks,” Gwen Stefani's “Hollaback Girl,” Eminem's “No Love,” and Lil Wayne's “Prom Queen.”

Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach was a common filming location for the popular television series The O.C. Additionally, the administration building was used as the high school for the hit Disney show Hannah Montana, starring Miley Cyrus.

Alexander Hamilton High School is a public high school on the west side of L.A. It’s also where all episodes of the TV series Sweet Valley High were shot. Other television series that used the hallways for several scenes include Beverly Hills 90210, CHiPs, Highway to Heaven, Parker Lewis Can't Lose, That's So Raven, and Sister, Sister.

Torrance High School, founded in 1917, is one of the oldest secondary schools in continuous use in California. It also serves as the facade in both the new and old versions of Beverly Hills, 90210. On the silver screen, it’s the main setting for the Freddie Prinze Jr. movie She's All That and also has a prominent role in Not Another Teen Movie, Bring It On, Whatever It Takes, Cursed, Wild Things 3, Bruce Almighty, and Less Than Zero.

Besides being known for surfers and beach bunnies, Venice High is the setting for two of the most well known school-based settings in all of pop culture history: Rydell High School in the 1978 hit movie Grease, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, and the Catholic high school in the video of Britney Spears' career-launching hit “...Baby One More Time.” If that weren’t enough, it’s also been featured in other movies such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, Pretty in Pink, American History X, Matchstick Men, and Heathers. This is the coolest school on earth!

Loyola High School of Los Angeles is a Jesuit preparatory school for young men. It’s also the oldest high school in southern California. That makes it all the more interesting as the choice for the setting of a young man’s struggle with fantasy and reality in the cult classic film Donnie Darko.

Verdugo Hills High School, a public school in the Tujunga community of L.A., claims to be "the location of choice for more movies, television shows, and commercials than any other school in the world.” This lengthy list of credits includes films Corvette Summer, Almost Summer, Christine, Better Off Dead, River's Edge, Heathers, The Craft, Boys and Girls, Clockstoppers, and Not Another Teen Movie and television shows Beverly Hills, 90210, Quantum Leap, My So-Called Life, Dangerous Minds, Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction, Felicity, Hyperion Bay, Rescue 77, Court TV, Once and Again, Get Real, CSI, Monk, American Idol, and, most recently, The Glee Project in 2011.

Whittier High School is most familiar to us as Hill Valley High School in Back to the Future. Whether in 1985 or 1955, Marty McFly found himself in loads of trouble in the hallways here.
