Johnny Depp as Ed Wood (1994)
Burton and Depp teamed up for a second time four years later for Ed Wood, the black-and-white ode to the schlock director. For most of the film, Depp plays Wood with pencil-thin mustache and a constant smile that embodies the director’s smarm and enthusiasm. And then it gets weirder when Wood reveals his preference for wearing women’s clothes and wigs. Depp in drag is brilliant… and in case you’re wondering, surprisingly he’s not a very pretty woman.
