Supernatural: Deliciously Demonic Cameos

First introduced in “The Magnificent Seven” (Season 3, Episode 1) — As the original Ruby, Cassidy seemed so sweet and demure—until her eyes flickered black, revealing the truth about what was currently inside the pretty girl. Ruby would materialize out of nowhere to help the Winchester brothers during some of their toughest cases, including when an entire town was taken over by demons. She always took care of the body she was borrowing, ensuring that she’d slaughter some of her own before any harm could be done to her. Of course, in hindsight, her obsessive need for self-preservation cut more than just skin deep.

First introduced in “Scarecrow” (Season 1, Episode 11) — Sam (Jared Padalecki) first came across a quiet and unassuming hitchhiking girl when he was out trying to find himself as well. But little did he know she had already been taken over by the demon Meg, who was tracking him for her own nefarious purposes. We got a taste of the darkness Meg was capable of by the end of her first episode, but it wasn’t until seasons later, in “Are You There God? It’s Me, Dean Winchester,” that we posthumously met the simple and sad girl that was left behind when the demon took control.

First introduced in “In the Beginning" (Season 4, Episode 3) — Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) has always had a deep love and respect for family, so when his angel bud Castiel (Misha Collins) zapped him back in time to meet his young parents and grandparents in the year before he was born, things were already beyond interesting. But when his Grandpa Campbell became possessed by Azazel, the yellow-eyed demon Dean thought he put behind him, the family drama was taken to a whole new level. And Pileggi was pure magic as the slippery-tongued manipulator.

First introduced in “Lazarus Rising” (Season 4, Episode 1) — Padalecki played the third incarnation of Ruby: Once the first body was injured beyond repair (and Cassidy became unavailable due to conflicting production schedules), Supernatural kept the character alive by slipping the demon into a new body. This time Sam wanted to make sure she wasn’t hurting an innocent girl, so Ruby found an empty vessel—the body of a girl who had been in a coma and was about to be taken off life support.

First introduced in “Heart” (Season 2, Episode 17) — Madison was technically more than just a meat suit, but because she flitted in and out of her supernatural ability, we’re going to let it slide. She was actually a werewolf who didn’t realize what she was, and whom Sam resisted having to take down because when he looked at her, he saw a person in an unfair situation, not unlike himself.

First introduced in “Sympathy for the Devil” (Season 5, Episode 1) — Meg is one demon who rides her host bodies harder than most, and after the Winchesters tried exorcising her, she was launched out a window, breaking her first body to bits. So she took over a new one in order to return to wreaking her havoc. She may have had a different face, but her true colors shone through nonetheless.

First introduced in “Sympathy for the Devil” (Season 5, Episode 1) — With great power comes great responsibility, and, when Lucifer is involved, also a great vessel. The pure evil emanating from Lucifer’s essence worked almost like acid, deteriorating the human body he inhabited faster than we might have expected, let alone hoped, considering the havoc Lucifer wreaked on Pellegrino.
