Then: Her exasperated eye roll as Becky, the eldest Conner daughter on Roseanne, captured the frustration of being from a family you can’t wait to escape but still deeply love. Goranson later shared the role with Sarah Chalke (of Scrubs fame) so she could attend to her studies as an English major at Vassar (where she also played rugby).

Now: Goranson still acts and has appeared in episodic TV (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Sex in the City) as well as films (Boys Don’t Cry) and indie comedy (Love, Ludlow). In late 2010 she starred off-Broadway in Nora and Delia Ephron's Love, Loss, and What I Wore. Snakkle Snippet: She plays guitar and mandolin and writes poetry.

Then: Benjamin "Ben" Hubert Horatio Humphrey Seaver, Kirk Cameron and Tracey Gold's rambunctious younger brother on ABC's Growing Pains, was famous for his scream.

Now: Since Growing Pains, he's gotten more exposure playing himself in commercials (a 2007 McDonald's spot) and vehicles that poke fun at child actors (see him reprise his scream in the "Child Stars on Your Television" takeoff of "We Are the World" in the closing credits of 2003's Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star) than in other roles. Married now, with three stepchildren, he still gets recognized, as seen here, exiting Hollywood’s Cabana Club and good-naturedly signing autographs.

Then: Starting at age 7, Smith spent eight seasons as Tim Allen's youngest son Mark on Home Improvement. (That’s him with the wide eyes and bowl haircut.) When he hit puberty, Smith grew so quickly that in the show’s final years he towered over older sitcom sib Brad, played by Zachery Ty Bryan.

Now: Smith left the world of Tool Time and entered the land of sustainable living when he and his then-wife ran a vegan, cashew-based, non-dairy cheese company called Playfood. Sadly, the marriage dissolved and so did the company. Current whereabouts: Portland, Oregon.

Then: Fishman was 5 when he started going to L.A. auditions with his older sister. Roseanne Barr took a liking to his untrained style, resulting in a nine-season gig as D.J. on Roseanne. D.J. was a fan of Barbie destruction, but was also featured in what was probably the funniest episode on television ever to deal with masturbation.

Now: A father of two, Fishman is still in the business he loves. He continues to pursue acting and has branched out into various aspects of production. As the primary builder and fabricator for ESPN's Sport Science, he was part of a group nominated for an Emmy in outstanding set design and art direction.

Then: Blonde and blue-eyed, Yothers played Alex P. Keaton’s tomboy little sister Jennifer on the NBC hit Family Ties. Wise beyond her years, Jennifer was the foil in the rivalry between Justine Bateman's Mallory and Michael J. Fox's Alex.

Now: Raven-haired Yothers (she gave up the blonde hair as soon as Family Ties ended) has played Tonya Harding in a TV film and porn star Linda Lovelace onstage. A mom and stepmom, she lost 42 lbs. on VH1's Celebrity Fit Club. Snakkle Snippet: Yothers always had musical inclinations. Here she is in a prom dress and jean jacket playing "Baby I'm Back in Love Again" on Family Ties. (That’s Christina Applegate on the keyboards—also in a prom dress and jean jacket.) Jaded, the post-Family Ties band she formed with real-life brother Cory, opened for Menudo.

Then: Sweetin started acting at 4 in commercials for Sizzler and Oscar Mayer. She played Stephanie Tanner, the bubbly middle child on Full House, for all eight years of the show. (Bob Saget played her dad and the Olsen twins took turns playing her younger sister Michelle.)

Now: In her 2009 memoir UnSweetined, she talks about her battle with methamphetamine and alcohol addiction, which began after Full House ended. Now reportedly clean and sober, Sweetin had her second daughter last August and got engaged to Morty Coyle at her 29^th birthday party in January. Snakkle Snippet: A gay marriage rights advocate, Sweetin has publicly stated that she and her fiancé want to hold off on their own nuptials until “there's equality for everybody to get married."
