Phil finds himself in his own private hell, living Groundhog Day in the happening town of Punxsutawney over and over and many times over again. Struggling with how to cope and win Rita’s heart proves to be hilarious in more ways than one, but a hard lesson learned manages to break the spell.

Famously hard-to-get, comedian-actor Bill Murray’s smoothly delivered deadpan made movies like Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, and other hit comedies instant classics. The talented Murray earned him an Academy Award nomination for his role in the 2003 film, Lost In Translation, and he famously stars in many of Wes Anderson’s popularly unusual films. But then, Murray is anything but usual.

Phil takes over as designated driver and takes Ralph for the ride of his life. “Don’t mix beer and wine. Oh yeah, and don’t drive on the railroad tracks… I’m not gonna live by their rules anymore!”

After Groundhog Day, the actor, comedian and occasional screenwriter went on to star in other comedy films like Mrs. Doubtfire and Eight Legged Freaks, as well as a slew of TV series, like his most recent roles in Good Job, Thanks and Newsreaders. An avid motorcyclist, Overton rides and contributes to annual charity rides like the Love Ride.

The ever-expressive Stephen Toblowsky is Ned, the life insurance salesman. Ned annoys the heck out of Phil and pretty much everyone in Punxsutawney, but the late-in-life-do-gooder Phil buys a full life insurance package from nagger Ned… Even though he definitely doesn’t need it.

Funnyman Stephen Toblowsky expanded his acting resumé with a variety of different roles in TV and film. You may remember him as Hugo Jarry in Deadwood, or as the unsettling Bob Bishop in the popular series Heroes, or as Sandy Ryerson in Glee. Toblowsky is married with two children and can be seen more recently on the show Californication.

Lovely Rita. With her heart of gold and complete disinterest in Phil, he falls hard for her… Enough to endure her stinging slap again and again in his (many) attempts to woo her. In his quest to fake a perfect match though, Phil slowly becomes it. Unbeknownst to the final-scenario-Rita, Phil is a changed man.

Andie MacDowell—Now

Gorgeous Andie MacDowell continues to defy aging and doesn’t look much older than Rita! The model-actress starred in the hit comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral, following Groundhog Day, and hasn’t slowed down since. One of her more recent roles was as Gray Chandler Murray in the TV series Jane by Design.

Willie Garson has a brief role as Kenny, Phil’s assistant. Kenny helps Phil with his jacket and says there’s no need to rush back, he’s got it covered if Phil wants to stay the weekend. To which Phil replies, “oh come one, like I wanna stay an extra second in Punxsutawney? Please.” If only he knew.

Willie Garson—Now

After playing Kenny, Willie Garson landed a more memorable role as Stanford Blatch on HBO’s iconic series Sex and the City. He’s been in both of the movie installments and recently starred in the hit series Two And A Half Men as Dr. Staven.

Larry, Rita’s production assistant and cameraman, provides the sarcastic quips to Phil’s dry cynicism. But even Larry warms up to Phil in the end, mid-blizzard and all.
