As a contestant, Adrianne Curry was unabashed, outspoken and unstoppable—for one thing, she had no qualms whatsoever about getting greased up and posing nude. Her looks and her attitude took her all the way to the end, and she was named the winner of the first cycle of America’s Next Top Model.

Since ANTM, she has gone on to become a game-show host (Ballbreakers) and judge (The Tester) as well as a reality-series star: She appeared on MTV’s The Surreal Life alongside the Brady Bunch’s Christopher Knight. The two then starred in a series chronicling their relationship, My Fair Brady; they got married in 2006 and filed for divorce in 2012. She has also spoken openly about being bisexual (she shot an It Gets Better video) and about being a fan of Cosplay and World of Warcraft (she’s a guildmaster).

What can you say about one of the weirdest girls in Top Model history—and one of our favorites? Allison Harvard has appeared twice on the series, in Cycle 12 and again in Cycle 19, the All-Stars Edition (she was the runner-up for both). One of the first things we learned about her is that she finds nosebleeds pretty and has a general fascination with blood.

Always one to follow the beat of her own drummer, Harvard is focusing not only on modeling—she has landed ad campaigns including this one for Malan Breton Fall 2012—but also on her fine art and photography (some of which is available for purchase!). We saw her unique style shine through in the “Underwater” music video she created in the All-Star season.

The self-described “classy ghetto” girl from Buffalo, Angelea Preston got into her share of drama in both of her seasons, Cycle 14 and Cycle 17 (All-Stars). In fact, according to reports that spread like wildfire among ANTM fans, she was the original winner of All-Stars—until she bragged about it over social media and was disqualified shortly before the finale. About the scandal, she told Us Weekly: “Part of the truth has come out already about the original outcome, and I believe that the rest of the truth will come out later.”

Although she didn’t walk away with the All-Star title, Preston is doing well, revealed that she’s married and pregnant (see that bump?) and was expecting a boy. “I plan to put my son into child modeling,” she told Celebrity Baby Scoop, “because the pregnancy agency I am with now, Expecting Models, has a child-modeling division where you and your child can model together. My booker there asked me if it was something I wanted to do, and I was like, ‘Yes, of course!’ I will incorporate my son into my career.”

With her tall stature, strong features and blond locks, CariDee English was an early favorite in Cycle 7, which she eventually won. As for life after Top Model, she told Maximo TV, “It’s really difficult because the fashion industry really doesn’t accept you as a model; [you’re seen as] a reality TV star.”

English has done a couple of guest-spots, on Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill, as well as appearing in the documentary The Tents and hosting the Oxygen reality series Pretty Wicked. A spokesperson for the National Psoriasis Foundation, she’s also busy making music—she appears on the Brad Walsh song “Boy/Girl”—and making her own songs with Tom Drummond of the band Better Than Ezra.

A strong international look—she has Jamaican, German, African-American, Scottish and Indian heritage—made Dominique Reighard a standout in Cycle 10, where she came in fourth place. She was invited back for All-Stars, where she again came in fourth (or third, depending on how you count it, once Angelea Preston was eliminated).

She may not have won either of her cycles, but as the winner of the ANTM spinoff series Modelville, Reighard became the spokesmodel for the beauty line Carol’s Daughter. She’s still modeling and making music (check out her video for “On Top of the World”).

The model formerly known as Eva Pigford has become the actress known as Eva Marcille (her middle name). By any name, she’s found some success in acting, with recurring roles on The Young and the Restless and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, as well as the Oxygen series Taking Hollywood and videos like this one for Cîroc vodka, “Luck Be a Lady,” alongside Diddy.

By becoming the first transgender woman on ANTM—and one of the first on prime time in general—Isis King, who competed in Cycle 11 and Cycle 17 (All-Stars), was a winner in our book, though she didn’t make it all that far in either season.

King has been involved in several high-profile activism campaigns with GLAAD, including I AM: Trans People Speak, and most recently was signed as a model for American Apparel’s Gay O.K. campaign. “I have embraced being a spokesperson for the transgender community and being a positive role model for others to look up to,” King told Fashionista. “I’m not perfect, but I am taking steps to creating reality from the dreams that I have. When I was young, there were no trans role models.”

Loud and brash and with a look just this side of kooky, Lisa D’Amato was definitely a memorable ANTM contestant, first on Cycle 5 and later on Cycle 17, which she won (after the controversy surrounding Angelea Preston’s disqualification).

She started out wanting to be an actress; D’Amato uploaded this audition tape from 2003 in which she went by Lisa Bacca because, she explains, “being Italian wasn’t ‘in,’ being Spanish was, so I used my mom’s maiden last name... In the end, I always still got runner-up in auditions because they looked more Mexican/Spanish than me.” Nowadays, after appearing on the third season of Celebrity Rehab, she is focusing on her music career—check out her videos for songs like “Trainwreck” and “Soldier.”

Known for her edgy, editorial poses, her red hair and her shy, awkward personality, Nicole Fox is also known as the winner of ANTM Cycle 13, in which all the participants were petite—Fox barely made the height restriction at 5' 7".

“I’m a dork and I’m America’s Next Top Model!” Fox told the Hartford Courant after her win. “This journey was incredibly hard. I had to learn to embarrass myself and to speak, which was a struggle... I remember during casting week, I went home and I cried... I was like, ‘What have I got myself into? I can’t deal with this.’ I didn’t think it would be OK to be that dorky girl.” Clearly, it was more than OK: Fox has appeared in the TV movie Almighty Thor alongside Richard Grieco and starred in the indie feature Sprawl.

When Whitney Thompson won Cycle 10 of ANTM, it set another precedent for the show: She became the first plus-size model to take home the title. Or, as one makeup artist on the show put it while getting her ready, “For what it’s worth, you’re like the first juicy booty to make it onto the runway.”

Since ANTM, Thompson has launched a plus-size dating site called The Big & the Beautiful, founded an accessories line called Supermodel and become a spokesperson for the National Eating Disorders Association—in addition to modeling for plus-size brands like Torrid and Allistyle.
