Happy Birthday, Joan Cusack! You Make Every Movie Better by Being in It
If there is anyone out there that doesn't appreciate Joan Cusack... honestly, we can't think of anything to tell such a person, other than, "Huh?" The lovely and preposterously talented Ms. Cusack has been consistently excellent since her first film appearance way back in 1980. She also seems like someone who leads a normal life off-camera; this clip of Joan promoting Mars Needs Moms is a great example. On the occasion of her 50th birthday, here is a Snakkle look at a few of our favorite Joan roles, both large and small. By Brett Singer
Joan Cusack in Sixteen Candles (1984)
We’ve waxed rhapsodic about Pretty in Pink, but we also love Sixteen Candles, another John Hughes classic starring Molly Ringwald. A very young Joan Cusack may not have been given an actual name for her Candles character, but that didn’t stop Geek Girl #1 from stealing every scene she was in. Want proof? Watch this montage of Cusack’s scenes from Sixteen Candles. We’ll bet you a box of floppy disks that you’ll totally agree with us.
