Before They Were Stars: Raised by Roman Catholic parents Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta, Lady Gaga started playing piano and writing songs from early childhood. It was during a year off from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts that Gaga formed the Stefani Germanotta Band, which would lead to her first record deal.
Where Are They Now: Lady Gaga’s 2008 debut album The Fame put her on the map with singles “Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” and “Paparazzi.” She has since followed up with 2009’s The Fame Monster and 2011’s Born This Way.
