Boy bands—they’re not just pretty faces, are we right? Even though we know you had their mugs plastered all over your walls, notebooks, and lockers growing up. How could you resist swooning to their sweet ballads and rocking out to their hot dance moves? Thanks to the spending power of the American teenager, the men behind the music weren’t mere one-hit wonders, but have they kept their appeal all these years later. The Guys of New Edition in the ‘80s
New Edition, formed in Boston in 1978, is the group most credited for paving the way in popularity for the boy bands that followed. But it’s the early-’80s amalgamation of New Edition—Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ralph Tresvant—that most music fans remember, because that’s when they released all of their big hits, like “Candy Girl,” “Is This the End?,” “A Little Bit of Love,” and “With You All the Way.”
