Before They Were Stars
Niki Taylor Now and Other Supermodels Before the Fame
Supermodels! They do not have super powers, but they can be quite spectacular. The role of the supermodel in our society has changed over the years, and the models themselves have expanded into areas that go far beyond modeling. Many of these lovely ladies have successful acting careers, at least one is a novelist, and another recently directed a documentary about childbirth. But enough talk. Tyra Banks—Now
Tyra Banks. Wow. Like her hero Beverly Johnson, Tyra broke new ground by becoming the first Black woman to appear on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Tyra has found success as an actress, hosted her own daytime talk show, and created the mega-hit reality series America’s Next Top Model. Tyra’s post-supermodel success story is still being written, and we mean that literally; Ms. Banks recently published her first novel, Modelland, which she hopes will become an ongoing series of books.
