The great thing about the NFL is that it changes every week. The frustrating thing about the NFL? It changes every week. One injury can ruin a player's career; the same injury creates an opportunity for someone else to step up. This year things seem crazier than usual, perhaps because of the shortened pre-season caused by a labor dispute. Now that the NFL season is almost over, let's play a little "who am I?" with some of the biggest names in the game before the biggest game of the year—Super Bowl XLVI on February 5, 2012! Carson Palmer High School Yearbook Photo—Quarterback, Oakland Raiders
Carson Palmer is the third potential comeback kid on our list. After many years as the starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, Palmer asked to be traded this year. When the Bengals owner demurred, Palmer didn’t show up for training camp, and the team turned to rookie QB Andy Dalton. In October, Palmer was traded to the Oakland Raiders after their starting QB Jason Campbell suffered a season-ending injury. (Note to self: Playing football is dangerous.) As of this writing, Palmer has won two out of three starts for the Raiders. The team is in first place in the AFC West with a 6-4 record.
