Flags of Our Father/Letters from Iwo Jima
These companion films—directed, produced, and scored by Clint Eastwood in 2006—tell the story of the Battle of Iwo Jima told from the point of view of the Americans and the Japanese. The dual storytelling device was a novel way of looking at the lives of those who raised that iconic flag at Iwo Jima and the more far-flung repercussions.
