Ward played Lily Manning, the suburban soccer mom recently separated from her philandering husband. Casting the Mississippi-born beauty was a no-brainer for Herskovitz, who shares that she was always the first choice for Lily. “Before our show, Sela always seemed to play the removed ice queen, and Lily was anything but that. So the first conversation we had with her was to see if she would even be interested,” he tells us. “But then we found that Lily was actually much closer to [Sela’s] personality anyway. She had always been cast as the remote object but was actually incredibly warm and funny. It was an easy decision to go with her.”
