After a 1991 breakup, mostly attributed to Farrell’s heroine addiction, Farrell reunited his alternative metal band Jane’s Addiction to help promote and headline the 2001 Coachella Festival lineup. The gig worked, fans flocked, and Coachella continued the tradition of reuniting bands as part of its branding. Jane’s Addiction broke up again in 2004 (not for the last time), citing similar reasons as in 1991, but like any torrential love affair the band still gets back together and performs live to this day.
FUN FACT: Perry Farrell is the only person who has performed at all 12 Coachella Festivals to date, having appeared under five different names (Perry Farrell, Jane’s Addiction, DJ Peretz, Satellite Party, and with Hybrid)!
