Who the heck is Sacha Baron Cohen? The British comedian first burst onto the pop culture scene in the late ’90s as the character of Ali G, a dumb-as-rocks hip-hop chat show host who caught celebs in hilariously uncomfortable interviews. A huge success, Sacha Baron Cohen then used his chameleon-like talents to morph into a series of new characters, including Borat and Brüno, to make mockumentary films provoking average people and celebrities with his outrageous behavior and opinions. Cohen is at it again playing Admiral General Aladeen, a more outrageous version of Muammar Gaddafi, in the new comedy The Dictator. It’s almost hard to remember back in the day when Johnny Depp made movies looking like… well, Johnny Depp. To say he’s gotten a little caught up in using makeup and costuming to create a character these days is quite the understatement. Matter of fact, Depp’s created one of the most eclectic rosters of over-the-top film characters of any actor working today, including his latest turn as Barnabas Collins, the ’70s-era goth vampire, in Tim Burton’s big-screen adaptation of Dark Shadows.
