Burkholder got his start in the film Daddy Day Care before embarking on an impressive television and voice-over career. On Parenthood, he plays Max, the middle child of Adam and Kristina, who happens to have Asperger’s syndrome. Burkholder is a revelation in his portrayal and, together with his on-screen family, brings an awareness of the struggles faced by children and adults who are affected by conditions on all ends of the autism spectrum.
