Not many public figures are more interesting or inspiring than Chaz Bono—than the transgender advocate, who started his life as Chastity. Snakkle looks back at Bono's life in pictures. By Nina Hämmerling Smith

Obviously a mentally challenged individual who should be in therapy instead of DWTS. I feel sorry for him and his mom. He was born a lovely child, but must have been influenced by to much show business. She will regret it some day. God made you. You have no right to remake what he has created.

You are wrong here. It’s a person’s right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. For Chaz Bono, happiness was possible only when he was able to get his physical self in synch with his psychological self. Until you’ve been in the same situation, you can never fully understand the inner turmoil created by a mismatch of the physical and psychological identities. I don’t fully understand it, but I can certainly see that Chaz Bono seems happy and fulfilled. He’s lucky to have a loving and supportive girlfriend. As far as God is concerned, let Chaz handle that aspect of his life.

Chas was born a girl and unfortunately no matter what she looks like on the outside, she is still a girl (woman). It is unfortunate she does not feel comfortable as a woman. The human body does not change so easily. Chas (a woman) desires to be sexually a man, but her human skeleton and DNA is still female, as well as internal organs.

Why is it fine that Carson Kressley is on DWTS but everyone is up in arms because Chaz Bono is. Carson is overly gay on any show he appears. Chaz isn’t out screaming ” Hey look at me I’m Transgender.” He simply is. I applaud Cher for the support she has given Chaz as a woman or a man. Why do people consider him mentally challenged ? He seems to be of very sound mind to me. I can’t wait to watch the show, which by the way I never have before, because of the different array of people on this season. I myself dislike Nancy Grace and I hope she falls on her face. How many people will complain about me saying that ?

Regarding Chaz Bono, I agree with Lisa Trimble. Cher HAS been loving and supportive. In fact, a large percentage of Cher’s fanbase is gay, transgendered, etc. I don’t see any evidence that Chaz is “mentally challenged” He made sound decisions regarding his life, carried himself with dignity, and now seems to be perfectly happy following his transition. Gender challenged? Probably in his earlier life. Mentally challenged? I don’t think so. On the other hand, I have nothing to say about Nancy Grace.

I won’t complain about you hoping for an early exit for Nancy Grace if you won’t complain about me having the same aspiration for Chaz. I am from the “old school.” That being said, I have no problem with Chaz’s decision to become a male. That is his business. I just don’t want to see him. I’ve opted out watching the show this season for that reason.

Why is it so hard for people to realize that just as sex is biologically
determined, so is gender? And they don’t always match! If you want to talk about “having no right to remake what [whichever god you subscribe to] has created,” I sure hope you never cut your hair, or pluck your eyebrows, or — god forbid — not oppose plastic surgery just as strongly as you oppose someone’s right to make their body match their mind and sense of self.
Shut your
judgmental mouth and let people live their lives.

I can’t imagine the distress of having a male mindset while “trapped” in a female body, but I think it takes a tremendous amount of inner strength, character, conviction and courage to not only “come out” in the face of adversity but to really go the distance and face the obstacles involved when going through gender reassignment surgery. And kudos to Cher for the love and support she has shown her child, who is now not only her son, but a grown man as well.

Regarding his appearance on DWTS, not only did he carry himself with pride, dignity and self-confidence, Lacey Schwimmer showed a lot of class and support by participating as his dancing partner in the show. She is leading by example and the public would do well to follow her lead, as far as attitudes are concerned.

In this day and age you never know what your getting when you start dating. I feel for Chaz but am having a hard time accepting what’s going on nowdays. The best thing to do is stay single and celebit.
