Bill Brochtrup continued to be active in theatre following the series finale of NYPD Blue, appearing in various stage plays—most recently in The Antaeus Company’s production of Mrs. Warren’s Profession. He also had minor roles in the romantic comedy films He’s Just Not That Into You and Life As We Know It. As for TV work, Brochtrup guest-starred in Dexter and Shameless. When he’s not acting, the actor spends his time supporting animal rescue organizations (he’s a “Friend For Life” of the SPCA) and hosting AIDS Walks.
