Erika Alexander brought a lot of fierce wit to the show as Maxine Shaw—a smart, stylish, and acid-tongued attorney who constantly showed up at the brownstone (she actually lived across the street) to catch up with the other girls and flirt—or cause trouble—with Overton Jones (played by John Henton).
