Working-class hero Roseanne revolutionized the role of women in comedy and in television with the creation of her titular series in 1988. Roseanne Conner was smart, witty, political, and opinionated—all without being a 5’10” blonde bombshell. In real life, Roseanne continues to be outspoken in her comedy and other ventures. She is also one of the first women in TV comedy to secure the title of Executive Producer on almost every project she worked on –going back to 1990 [take that, Mom-ager and Kardashian reality show producer Kris Jenner] In 2011, Barr produced starred in the reality series “Roseanne’s Nuts,” and in 2012 announced her bid for the presidency. She didn’t win.
